About

Sage House is a secular homeschool enrichment program that seeks to encourage children’s curiosity and wonder of the natural world through exploration in science and nature-based play. By coming together as a community of learners, we promote a sense of belonging and support children’s holistic growth by providing an unhurried, dynamic space where children have the openness to learn and authentically engage with the world around them. We prioritize parent involvement, and see that as a key to creating deeper connections within our group.

Our location on a 40-acre property in the pinyon-juniper woodlands outside of Dolores allows us to hike and explore the canyon, creek, and woodlands daily. By immersing themselves in natural spaces as they change through all four seasons, children develop a deeper relationship with place.

Our Values

  • Time in Nature

    Rooted in Scandinavian traditions, we prioritize risk-taking, resilience, deep connections with nature, and playing outside through all four seasons. We prioritize this time, and spend most of our time out of the classroom.

    Exploration leads to curiosity, which leads to learning. We encourage children to explore the natural environment, challenging their comfort zones and inspiring a sense of wonder of the natural world.

    Our children have the best of both worlds: a homeschool education and a tight-knit peer community with meaningful relationships and shared values.

    This is where the real work gets done. Children have the opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and constantly test their boundaries and develop their social-emotional skills in the most natural way.

    By settling ourselves in a rich learning environment that sparks the imagination and children’s natural sense of curiosity, we are able to follow their interests and foster a love of learning.

    From healthy snacks to peace in nature, we support whole-child growth. We provide a dynamic and loving space where children can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
